The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) will work on the NIMH funded Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health (CHARM) as coordinator for the EIS Core. CHARM aims to catalyze mental health & HIV science at UM and in So FL with the over-arching theme of “Reducing the Impact of Mental Health and Minority Health Disparities across the HIV Prevention and Care Continua.” The EIS Core aims to support research on implementing and disseminating evidence-based interventions (EBIs) to reach communities who could most benefit. The Core’s emphasis is on training researchers, individuals interested in working with communities experiencing HIV and MH disparities, and established investigators ready to transition their research from efficacy/effectiveness to Implementation Science (IS), while simultaneously engaging implementing individuals and organizations in this process to ensure the results of this work are impactful. The position entails coordinating the CHARM EIS Core and providing direct support to the Core’s activities. The incumbent will report to Dr. Audrey Harkness, the EIS Core Director.

Under the guidance of the Core Director, the Executive Director and Manager of Research Support, the SRA supports research activities within the EIS Core. The SRA will liaise with academic and community/implementation partners and contribute to the strategic and operational goals and objectives of the Core.

Department Specific Functions:

Coordination

  • Coordinate all activities of the EIS Core
  • Collect and analyze data from the EIS Core
  • Maintain and develop correspondence systems for the Core and organize meetings for the Core
  • Coordinate and lead the EIS Core report at the CHARM Executive Committee Meetings

Executive Committee meetings and CHARM internal and external advisory board meetings

  • Coordinate routine Core activities including data collection and maintenance, project evaluation, meeting scheduling, and interact with participants (particularly those in the CHARM Implementer Survey)
  • Track participant progress and report data to the study team and to the funders (NIH). 
  • Lead the preparation of the annual RPPR (progress report) documents for the EIS Core (This requires developing annual scientific progress reports and synthesizing data.) 
  • Liaise with other Cores of CHARM, and other departments, outside organizations, agencies, etc. to achieve Core goals.
  • Coordinate the annual EIS weeklong seminar, including inviting speakers, coordinating the schedule, inviting attendees, coordinating travel and reservations, handling honorariums, and all other administrative aspects of hosting this event at UM.  Collect data from speakers and attend and summarize for the study PIs.
  • Coordinate the EIS Implementer-Researcher Symposium to Bridge Implementation Research and Practice, including inviting implementation and scientific partners to attend, planning the agenda, securing space and speakers, and all other administrative activities required to host this event at UM.
  • Coordinate and manage the Implementer Consent-to-Contact Database by enrolling implementers in the local community into the survey and managing requests for investigators to access these data.
  • Coordinate the EIS Core partnership-making microgrants (annual) which will support an investigator and implementation partner to build a sustainable partnership for EIS research.

Measures and Evaluation

  • Design, deploy and maintain metrics to measure processes and effectiveness of EIS Core accomplishments (which will then be presented in annual reports to NIH) 

IRB

  • Maintain current knowledge of IRB policies and procedures to ensure compliance and act as liaison with the IRB regarding Core-led human subjects activities.
  • Assist in preparation of IRB protocol submissions and reports.

Other Activities

  • Develop and maintain investigator support materials related to EIS.
  • Develop lay summaries and other dissemination materials based on research results.
  • Supervise research assistants to advance the work of the EIS Core.
  • Assist with the preparation of grant documents and submission of grant applications.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications


Education
Bachelor’s degree in public health, social sciences, nursing and health studies, or related field. 

Master's degree in public health or a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology) will be a plus.

Experience
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, experience with community-engagement and research activities preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes

  • Knowledge of research and business principles.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate the activities of a P30 Center Core under minimal supervision, implement and evaluate multiple projects.
  • Ability to implement and meet core goals and objectives that support the Center ‘s strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team and collaborate with different individuals involved in implementation of HIV services (e.g., clinic leaders, frontline providers, etc.).
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time in order to efficiently execute all activities related to the Core.
