Cape Fear Valley Behavioral Health is one of the largest comprehensive, multi-tiered behavioral health services in North Carolina. Staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses, licensed professional counselors, and other mental health professionals, Cape Fear Valley Behavioral Health Care provides a team approach to mental wellness. Behavioral Health Care is accredited by The Joint Commission and licensed by the State of North Carolina. Opportunities for Core Faculty of the Psychiatric Residency Program are also a possibility.

The Health System is seeking providers for the following due to regional volumes and commitment to expand services:

Emergency Opportunity

• Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC) provider with experience in ED or trained in ED/Psychiatry. The Emergency Department maintains a Psychiatric Unit of 9 beds for patients in crisis. Support team is specialty trained. Schedule consists of 13-hour shifts, approximately 12 shifts per month.

Consult Liaison

• Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC) providers with experience in consult liaison services or trained in consult liaison/psychiatry. The consult liaison services provide consult services for the 600-bed main hospital and works with attending providers to assist in appropriate disposition of behavioral health conditions. Support team is specialty trained.
• Additionally, ECT training and experience is highly desirable.

Child/Adolescent Outpatient Opportunity

• BE/BC Child/Adolescent providers with training/experience in a diagnosing and treating a variety of psychiatric disorders. These positions are primarily outpatient positions with an opportunity to assist in coverage of a new adolescent inpatient unit. The patient population is primarily child and adolescent with flexibility on coverage of other age groups. Candidates with experience in treatment of ADHD, PTSD, ODD, Anxiety, Depression, Autism Spectrum Disorders and other child/adolescent mental illness are preferred.

Adult Outpatient Opportunity

• BE/BC Adult providers with training/experience in a variety of mental health treatment conditions, as well as Chemical Dependency and Substance Abuse. This includes adult populations with flexibility on coverage of populations. Candidates with experience in treatment of Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD and Mood Disorders is preferred.
• Additionally, ECT and TMS training and experience is highly desirable. Well established adult team is flexible and transparent for either or both inpatient and outpatient services. Clinic hours are Monday Friday.

• Additional opportunities for psychiatrists working with geriatric patients, substance use disorders, and general psychiatry.
