The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides comprehensive skilled services under the direction of a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist Assistant educates patients and their family members and ensures safety of the patient. The PTA is accountable for completing accurate documentation and remains compliant with all legal rule and regulations. The Company adopts the physical therapy scope of practice as outlined by the state for its licensed PTA personnel. Qualifications include a current license in the state of employment, minimum one year of experience as a PTA in an acute setting, and desired home care experience. The PTA must effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers, be knowledgeable on therapy best practices, and have a disciplined work ethic. Major responsibilities include providing skilled services in a patient’s home as per the Physical Therapist plan of care, observing and reporting patient progress, performing physical therapy procedures, treating patients to relieve pain and restore function, assessing functional problems, communicating with healthcare team members, educating staff and patients, completing clinical documentation, participating in case conferences, and attending trainings. Essential functions include driving to patient locations, documenting visits timely, following the plan of care within the scope of practice, and managing compensation for all visit-related activities. Health qualifications require meeting physical position requirements, TB testing, and being free of limiting medical conditions. Physical demands include extensive communication, computer use, manual dexterity, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs, and other physical activities. Travel is required for this position.
